Chop Saws

Chop saws are circular saws fixed to pivoted arm such that they cut with a downwards ‘chopping’ motion although the term is usually applied to metal-cutting abrasive saws (hot saws), or cut-off saws (cold saws). Those for cutting wood are referred to as a Mitre saw or Compound Mitre saw if the blade can tilt (most chop saws allow the base to swivel for angled cuts).

Note: Using a cold saw blade in another chop saw can cause them to burn out because of the the higher rate of revolutions.
