Description

Dovetail Saws are a type of backsaw, similar to a Tenon Saw, but smaller at 150mm to 200 mm long and with finer teeth of 14 to 20 teeth per inch (TPI). They are used for fine work such as cutting a Dovetail Joint as shown.

Features and Applications

Note: When cutting dovetails for example, position the work in a vice such that the saw is cutting vertically downwards and the tail is on the user's side of the blade - where it can be seen.

The waste in between the cuts can be removed either with a chisel or more conveniently by using a Coping Saw.
