Toolmakers Clamps are used in precision work to hold thin pieces together whilst they are drilled for example - as shown.

A similar task can be achieved using a Hand Vice, Vice Grip or Mole Grips.

Safety Point! Always hold work using a clamp or vice, or clamp it firmly to the machine table, when drilling - especially when drilling large holes in thin sheet metal because the drill can grab and spin the metal when it breaks through.
