Description

Use a sharp knife against a steel Safety Ruler on a Cutting Mat whenever possible. Blunt blades do not cut properly and take too much pushing through the material.

Keep fingers always behind the cutting edge and don't press too hard. Several gentle shallow cuts into card will often produce better results than attempting one heavy cut.

Safety Point! Always use a Craft Knife together with a Safety Ruler and Cutting Mat to protect fingers and table tops.

Note:

Scissors can be used for paper and thin card but will tend to distort heavier card. A good sharp knife is usually best. Replace blades often and test for sharpness by cutting scrap paper. A Rotary Trimmer is a safe and useful option when there is a general need to cut sheets of paper or thin card to size.

Cutting Curves and Circles

Curves and circles can be cut using a Compass Cutter or a Cutting Wheel for curved shapes, in combination with a Cutting Mat
