Stripwood Technology is taken to be that which makes use of thin strips of Softwood or Jelutong, mainly 8mm square up to 12mm square, which are used to reinforce card or are themselves joined together by thin card reinforcements - or Gussets. The technique can be combined with Box Modelling and used to create working models by children of all ages!

As an activity for very young children it provides an excellent way to develop fine motor skills, simple tool techniques, spacial awareness - and have fun! Older children can build quite large and complex working models with a minimum of specialist equipment and use them to better understand Structures, Mechanisms and related aspects of mathematics or science.
