Learning Across the Curriculum

The revised curriculum has a clearer focus on the needs of learners and the process of learning. It also gives fuller attention to the development and application of skills.

To help schools deliver the revised curriculum, a non-statutory Skills Framework for 3 to 19-year-olds in Wales has been developed. This framework defines the range of skills that learners aged 3-19 should develop, and provides guidance about continuity and progression in developing thinking, communication, number and information communications technology (ICT).

Documents, which track these skills across each subject, have been produced to assist teachers in their curriculum planning.

Subject guidance

This document provides key messages about teaching, learning and progression in Design and Technology. The material includes profiles of learners’ work at Key Stages 2 and 3, which exemplify the standards set out in the level descriptions and illustrate how to use level descriptions to make best-fit judgements at the end of the Key Stage.

Programme of Study and Attainment Targets

The document ‘Design and Technology in the National Curriculum for Wales’, contains the Programmes of Study for each Key Stage, together with Attainment Targets and Level Descriptions.
