Description
Shearing occurs when forces try to make one part move in one direction and another part in the opposite direction - i.e. to slide past one another. These forces are as a result of applying Shear Stress and are measured in newtons.
- When a paper is cut with scissors, the paper fails in shear.
- Materials and structures which can resist Shear are said to have good Shear Strength
