Tasks are taken to be short practical activities designed to introduce a particular skill or concept.
Starter Tasks are short enough to be used at the beginning of a Design and Technology session to introduce a new concept (e.g. folding paper to increase stiffness), increase awareness of the work of others (e.g. research history of everyday products), immerse students into the context a designing scenario (e.g. Biomimicry), problem identification games (e.g. select random words from a dictionary and seek conflicts or connections), or continue a core skill development (e.g. as a means of continuing the development of graphics skills)
Note: Throughout DT Online there are also Activities. These are short Tasks which are offered in the context of the particular aspect being covered in the surrounding text.
